League of Legends Health System Guide
Health is a fundamental stat in League of Legends that determines a unit's hit points. When damage reduces health to 0, the unit dies. Health can be restored through regeneration, healing, life steal, and vamp.
Key aspects of health:
- Stacks additively (1:1 ratio)
- Champions have base health that grows per level
- Maximum health = base + bonus health
- Bonus health comes from abilities, items, runes, and buffs
- Gold value is 2.67 per health point
Health Bar Display:
- Green bar at top of HUD shows current/max health
- Hatch marks represent 100 health increments
- Segments show every 1000 health
- Different colors indicate allies (blue) vs enemies (red)
Effective Health:
- Measures actual survivability considering armor/magic resistance
- Physical effective health = Health × (1 + 0.01 × Armor)
- Magical effective health = Health × (1 + 0.01 × MR)
- Mixed effective health varies based on damage composition
Special Health Mechanics:
- Some champions use health as ability resource
- Grey health shows recently taken damage
- Health thresholds cap maximum possible health
- Health scaling affects abilities and items
- Health can be increased through items, abilities, and runes
Important Interactions:
- Health costs ignore invulnerability
- Abilities using health cannot kill the caster
- Effects scale off current, missing, maximum, or bonus HP
- Grey health doesn't count for health-based effects
