League of Legends Champion Experience Guide Wiki
Champion experience enables champions to level up in League of Legends matches after gaining specific amounts of experience points (EXP). Leveling up unlocks new abilities and strengthens existing ones, while also improving base stats.
Basic Mechanics
- All champions start at level 1 with zero experience
- Each level requires progressively more experience
- Experience must be actively earned (not passive)
- Maximum level is 18 (30 in Ultra Rapid Fire mode)
Ways to Gain Experience
- Champion Takedowns:
- Solo kills: 42-990 EXP (based on enemy level)
- Assists: 28-990 EXP (shared among participants)
- Experience modifiers apply based on level differences
- Proximity Experience:
- Being within 1400 units of dying minions
- Up to 10 seconds after your death near enemy champion deaths
- Minion Deaths:
- Must be within range or last-hit
- Solo experience: 95% of base value
- Shared experience: 124% of base value (split among nearby allies)
- Jungle Monsters:
- Experience goes to killer (most camps)
- Baron Nashor: Team-wide experience
- Rift Herald: 300 EXP to nearby champions (600-unit range)
Experience Sharing Breakdown
When multiple champions share experience:
- Two champions: 65.26% each
- Three champions: 43.51% each
- Four champions: 32.63% each
- Five champions: 26.11% each
- Six champions: 21.75% each
