League of Legends Attack Speed Guide & Wiki
Attack speed (AS) is a stat that determines how quickly a unit can perform basic attacks, measured in attacks per second. Each champion has a base attack speed and can gain bonus attack speed from various sources.
Key Points:
- Base attack speed is fixed at level 1 value
- Bonus attack speed stacks additively
- Attack speed is capped at 2.5 attacks per second (0.4s per attack)
- Minimum attack speed is 0.2 (5s per attack)
Calculation Formula: Total AS = Base AS + (AS Ratio × Bonus AS%)
Where:
- Base AS: Champion's level 1 attack speed
- AS Ratio: Champion-specific multiplier
- Bonus AS%: Sum of all percentage bonuses
Sources of Bonus Attack Speed:
- Champion levels
- Items
- Abilities
- Runes
- Buffs
Special Cases:
- Some champions like Bel'Veth can exceed the 2.5 AS cap
- Certain champions (Jhin, Graves) have modified AS calculations
- Bonus AS can scale other abilities beyond just attack speed
Gold Value: 25 gold per 1% bonus attack speed
Attack Speed Cap Modifications:
- Bel'Veth: Cap increased to 9999.0
- Varus: Cap increased to 2.7632
- Zeri: Cap reduced to 1.5
- Sion: Cap modified to 1.75 during Glory in Death
- Jinx: Can exceed cap during Get Excited!
This stat is crucial for basic attack-focused champions and scales multiplicatively with other offensive stats like critical strike and on-hit effects.
