Understanding Crowd Control Score in League of Legends: What It Means and How It Works

Crowd Control Score (CCS) is a metric in League of Legends that measures how effectively players apply crowd control effects during a game. Introduced by Riot Games in 2017, this scoring system helps players evaluate their impact through disable abilities.
How CCS is Calculated:
- Hard crowd control (stuns, knockups): 1 point per second
- Soft crowd control (slows): Fractional points per second
- Duration-based effects are cumulative throughout the match
Important Considerations:
- Some abilities artificially inflate CCS (e.g., Nocturne's Paranoia, Jarvan IV's Cataclysm)
- Most valuable for support champions like Thresh, Morgana, Nautilus, Alistar, and Rakan
- Helps evaluate performance compared to other players using the same champion
- Particularly useful for champions whose primary role involves crowd control
CCS is especially valuable for support players to gauge their effectiveness in controlling enemies during teamfights and skirmishes. While it doesn't measure the strategic value of individual crowd control moments, it provides a useful metric for comparing performance across games and improving gameplay.
Note: CCS should be considered alongside other performance metrics, as high scores don't always correlate with game impact or victory.
