LoL community believes Mel would excel as bot lane carry instead of mid
Mel from Arcane holding glowing device
League of Legends' newest champion Mel, designed as a mid laner, may be more effective in the bot lane according to the player community.
Despite Riot Games positioning her as a mid lane champion, players have identified several characteristics that make Mel particularly suited for the bot lane carry role:
- Limited mobility makes her better in a 2v2 lane
- Abilities work best when enemies are crowd controlled
- Strong synergy with support champions like Nautilus and Leona
Sorceress with glowing orb and flames
Mel's key features include:
- Unique projectile reflection mechanic
- High-damage abilities (Q and ultimate)
- No mobility skills
- Vulnerability to crowd control
Jinx casting Mel ability
This situation mirrors other mages who have successfully transitioned to bot lane, including:
- Ziggs
- Swain
- Lux
- Seraphine
- Cassiopeia
According to U.GG, three of these champions currently rank among the top bot lane picks.
Players will be able to test Mel's capabilities when she releases on January 23 with Patch 25.S1.2.
