Caedrel Blasts LTA Playoffs Format: "Single Elimination is Unacceptable"

Former League of Legends caster and current streamer Caedrel has strongly criticized the 2025 LTA Split One Playoffs format, highlighting significant concerns about its structure.

The main issues Caedrel pointed out include:

  • Single-elimination format instead of double-elimination
  • Mostly best-of-three matches
  • Only one best-of-five series in the finals
  • Limited exposure to the new Fearless Draft format

This criticism is particularly relevant because the Fearless Draft format, introduced in 2025, has become a major attraction in competitive League of Legends. While other major regions like LCK and LPL could potentially play up to eight best-of-five series with Fearless Draft before First Stand (the first international tournament of 2025), LTA teams will only play one.

The community has largely agreed with Caedrel's assessment, with many fans expressing disappointment on Reddit about the limited number of games and the missed opportunity to showcase more Fearless Draft matches.

First Stand will feature an even more intense version called "Hard Fearless Draft," where champions can only be picked once per series by either team. The tournament will use best-of-three matches in the group stage and best-of-five series in the knockout stage.

This disparity in format between regions could potentially impact team preparation and competitive experience heading into international events, raising questions about regional competitive parity.
